EX SERVICEMEN RALLY AT PALRA STADIUM (RAJIV GANDHI STADIUM) JHAJJAR (HR) ON 16 MAY 2012 AT 10.30 AM GEN VK SINGH COAS, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC WILL ADDRESS THE RALLY

Dear Members of the Media

1. Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen VK Singh PVSM, AVSM,YSM,ADC has declared this “Year” as the “year of the veterans”. To this end, an ex servicemen rally is being organized under the aegis of Army Headquarters on 16 May 2012 at 10.30 AM at Palra Stadium Jhajjar (Haryana). The Rally will be addressed by General VK Singh himself.



2. Ex Servicemen, defence widows and family members in large numbers will be attending the rally. Post retirement phase of a soldier is part of the profession of arms. Sadly, successive Govts have not done enough for the Defence Veterans to enable them to live with dignity and respect. 85 percent of the military personnel are compulsorily retired at the age of 35-37. The harsh terms and conditions of service make this profession a” unique and different” from any other profession.

3. Beside organizing a Medical Camp at the rally site, the ESM will project their issues to the COAS, Gen V K Singh, who will inform them about the actions taken by service Headquarters for addressing their concerns. All types of medical specialists will be available at the medical Camp. Prescribed medicines will be dispersed. Mobile CSD Canteen is also being placed for the entitled veterans.
