Subject: RS 38-LAKH RELIEF TO KIN OF SLAIN CRPF MEN
I entirely agree with the views of Col Chakravarthy.
There were 76 Personnel of the CRPF brutally massacred by the Maoists Terrorists. They were our brethren in Uniform, may be of different hue & colour. They also have families who have lost their bread winners. Today, I watched the last rites being performed & patiently heard the Taps, for most of them. Three of them belonged to Tamilndu.
Is it proper for us to start grumbling on the financial package being offered to them posthumously? Did they not die in similar circumstances like many of our own men & for our country? A veteran goes to the extent of condemning the gesture as a compensation for inefficiency. Similar incompetency had been exhibited by the Army also, on a few occasions. Does it debar a man from being compensated for his death due to enemy action?
I appeal to the Veterans to be magnanimous in sympathising with the death of Uniformed men from what ever organisation they belonged.
Our own case for equality or more in compensation for our Soldiers may be taken up for discussion when the occasion arises in future.
