A self explanatory mail from Wg Cdr Thomas is forwarded herein.
Do I need to highlight how 'fed up' the average citizen is, about the way things are?? Misgovernance, corruption in corridors of power and criminalization of politics, have led to a situation that our very existence as a nation is being threatened by diverse divisive forces.
For past couple of years, particularly following national man devised disasters, cries go up for a 'cleaner, different, better' alternative to the 'chatta pattas' of various hues that reflect our total political option Since independence, these permutation/ combinations, have alternated in power, each as bad as the other.PEOPLE WANT A DIFFERENCE.
Most of us feel that the induction of ex servicemen in politics and their closer integration into nation building tasks offer us the BESTchance for India to move to its natural place at the head of the community of nations.
A FAUJI has a disciplined, responsible, persevering nature. He is an experienced problem solver, deeply nationalistic and is trained to understand the country's rural and urban mileau better than ANY other segment of society.
His SECULAR credentials are impeccable. Religeon and caste are NEVER a factor in his approach. Merit and Mission orientation definitely is.
He, the true Son Of the Soil, needs to now step out of the shadows, and bring glory to Mother India.
Answering to the citizenry's call for such a need, some Faujis are competing (fighting as some civilians call it, but fighting for a fauji is much more serious stuff !!) for a seat in the Lok Sabha this year.
One of them is Brig Harwant Singh, fighting from the Chandigarh seat.
I am writing to canvas support for him.
I am sure those in Chandigarh would support him with votes, canvassing, and advertising AND finances, since elections call for great expenditure.
I REQUEST YOU TO PLEASE ASSIST FINANCIALLY, TO THE BEST OF YOUR/ YOUR ORGANIZATIONS' CAPABILITY.
My request is addressed to
Veterans. Many are entrepreneurs/ working for corporates who may be motivated to support our cause for better governance.
Corporates. You have the Big Money. Dont you want a cleaner disciplined and safe country that permits you to conduct business better??
Individuals. You have cried out in pain in front of TV Cameras expressing your angst against the system that slept while the Mumbai blasts were planned and executed. NOW is the time to seek the alternative you spoke and dreamt about. Go and vote. Vote for Ex servicemen. Vote Faujis.
NGO.
NRIs. Mother lndia wants you to back a CHAGE.
Brig Harwant, whose specific case I am writing about is an excellent person to have in Parliament. A die hard Fauji, he has kept in touch with his roots and is a true Son of the Soil. We Want Him IN Lok Sabha.
His contact details are given below. Please follow your heart.
AND YES, IT WILL BE A GREAT HELP IF YOU SHARE THIS AND SUPPORT THE CAUSE. THANKS A LOT !!!!
With Warm Regards,

Dear Veterans,
This election campaign by Brig Harwant Singh(Retd) is very important for us veterans. Even if he alone gets elected, we get a voice in Parliament and in the media.

Veteran Harwant Singh has been a fearless and indefatigable campaigner for the welfare of military veterans. He is the right person to represent us in Parliament.

Parliamentary elections require a lot of hard work, support from volunteers and lots of money. I have no doubt that the veterans in and around Chandigarh will provide lots of support. However, all of should contribute money for the campaign.

I have arranged for one of my good friends in Chandigarh to hand over my contribution. I urge all veterans to contribute for this important campaign. It is for our enlightened self interest. Cash or cheques may please be sent at Veteran Harwant Singh's address given below.
