POW in Pakistan...Flying Officer Sudhir Tyagi

13 Oct 09
Dear Colonel Tyagi,
I am sad to learn about your brother being one of the 54 POWs.
I can well imagine your feelings and your family’s feelings about this issue.
I am forwarding your email for consideration by the IESM Steering Committee.
Your email will also be circulated on “Report My Signal”.

Cheer up.

May God help us all in getting release of all the POWs.

Wishing you and your family A Very Happy Deepawali.

Dear Sir,

I am very happy to know that Mr Hira Lal doing such pioneering efforts to raise POW issues with the masses. On personal front my brother in law, Flying Officer Sudhir Tyagi, Vr C is one amongst the 54 POW

We had raised the matter in 1981 through media and acknowledge efforts of Mr Ravindra Kumar, now Editor in Chief of STATESMAN ( then a correspondent ) based at Delhi. It has been contineous efforts. Those interested in gaining independent opinion may read page 59 of a book by Victoria Shoffield, Bhutto Trial and Error where an independent account gave credence to their presence.

It really hurts that Govt acknowledged in Lok Sabha proceedings that our 54 POWs are in Pak jail but neither making a serious efforts to bring them back nor accepting them to be alive to save few thousand in terms of pay and allowances to the families. IESM may include in their agenda if deem fit to atleast make Govt realise that these 54 POWs be consider to be on duty till they would have retired otherwise.

regards,

Col (Retd) MK Tyagi
