Latest Kerala Govt orders on Tax Exemption

Here are the latest orders. It is in Malayalam as per the latest policy. So Im enclosing the scans of the orders in Malayalam and my translation in English. You will find they are very liberal. Let us hope the other states also emulate this.

SYNOPSIS

LOCAL SELF GOVT DEPT- ISSUES ORDERS GRANTING EXEMPTION FROM PROPERTY TAX ON HOUSE IN THE NAME OF SPOUSE OF EXSM

Ref: - 1. L.S.G.D Order No: G.O (M.S) 212/2008 DT: 25 - 07 – 2008.
2. L.S.G.D Order No: G.O (M.S)171/2009 DT: 29 – 08 – 2009
3. Representation from Sri Sreekumaran Nair of Vadakke Padinjathu Veedu, 239/A, Ward 36, Kozhikode Corporation.

ORDER
Order exempting an EXSM or his widow from paying property tax for one house exclusively used for his/her residence in their own name, irrespective of the plinth area has already been issued vide G.O under ref (2).

2. Vide Ref (3), it has been represented that an EXSM who does not have a residence in his own name but in the name of his wife and residing there in should be granted similar exemption .

3. After examining in detail the above the Govt have decided that an EXSM who does not possess a house in his own name and is living in a house in the name of his wife the concession will be allowed. However if he is living in a house in the name of his son or daughter the same will not be allowed. This concession will be subject to the following conditions:-

1. The EXSM will submit an affidavit to the concerned L.S.G. Body recording the house no in the name of his wife certifying that the EXSM has no other house in his name elsewhere and that similar concession is not being availed for any other house in the name of his wife.
2. Whenever the exemption from property tax for a house in the name an EXSM/widow/his wife is granted, such fact should be recorded in discharge book or service record.
3. Whenever the EXSM/ widow/ wife transfers the ownership of such a house, the information should be furnished to concerned L.S.G authorities.
4. On the demise of such EXSM / widow/ wife the information should be furnished immediately to concerned authorities by next of kin.
